Save The Elephants
Founded in 1993 by Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton, Save the Elephants is a research and conservation organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. Focusing on the African Elephant, Save the Elephants conducts ground-breaking research on elephant biology, elephant intelligence, human-elephant conflict and coexistence, and elephant behavior- mainly tracking continental movements and communication. Their education and outreach programs work on empowering local Kenyan communities as true custodians of the land. Save the Elephants's mission is to secure a future for elephants in an ever-changing climate.
Save the Elephants works together with the Wildlife Conservation Network in managing the Elephant Crisis Fund (ECF), which provides rapid support to NGOs combating the ivory trade, protecting elephant landscapes and corridors, and promoting human-elephant coexistence. To date, the ECF has supported over 120 partners in 44 countries since its creation in 2013. The fund has successfully created a collaborative network of elephant conservation groups across the African continent.
